Learning and Development Specialist

TPD has partnered with BC Pavilion Corporation (PavCo), owner and operator of BC Place Stadium and the Vancouver Convention Centre, is currently searching for a Learning and Development Specialist to join our team. This important new role will report to the Senior Manager of Talent, Learning and Leadership and acts as a key part of the HR team responsible for people strategy and programs at PavCo.

The Learning and Development Specialist works with the Senior Manager, Talent, Learning & Leadership to determine PavCo’s learning needs,objectives, and gaps, source or develop effective learning solutions, and measure the effectiveness of these solutions.

  • Creating and implementing consistent standards for all key training and development initiatives (needs analysis, design, content and evaluation, maintenance of training records, etc.) to ensure a high level of training quality.
  • Working with HR Directors and HR team members to analyze needs, source or build/deliver, assess and continuously improve organization-wide and group-specific learning programs.
  • Working with the Senior Manager, Talent Learning and Leadership to establish budget,  monitor plans and report on learning and development spend. .
  • Researching, developing and/or recommending learning and development solutions to address individual learning objectives.
  • Planning, tracking, managing and evaluating organization-wide tactical, safety and compliance training.
  • Working with the management teams to facilitate and schedule technical training and refreshers specific to their teams’ needs.
  • Actively supporting and continuously improving new employee onboarding and orientation across all PavCo groups.
  • Coordinating and/or delivering front-line employee training programs, whether in-house or utilizing external vendors. This may include scheduling of employees, rooms, layout and catering as needed.



  • Certificate, diploma, or degree in learning and development, human resources, or business administration
  • A minimum of three years of experience in adult education or corporate training.
  • Experience in all areas of learning and development: from analyzing learning needs to design and delivery to assessing workplace training programs, all utilizing adult learning principles, current research and best practices.
  • Established experience with various instructional technologies and audio-visual equipment such as Articulate Storyline, Adobe Captivate, Adobe Creative Suite, media converters, audio editors and converters, video editing software, etc.
  • Proven strengths in building collaborative working relationships and consulting with employees at all levels.
